How journals can best respond to the issues of manipulation of digital data images

Kirsten Miles of P.I. Outcomes (Charlottesville, Virginia) presented questions and suggestions for journal editors at the latest CSE annual conference as they deal with authors instructions for submitting digital data images.  She emphasized the extended life-cycle of data in her presentation, showed examples of image screening, and suggested four “best practices” for journals in managing images.  (panel presentation at the 2011 Annual Meeting of the Council of Science Editors)
